The National Capital Rally has been promoted by the Brindabella Motor Sports Club and been running continuously since 1995. The rally first started as a club level event until it was granted NSW state championship status.
In 2013 a dedicated group applied for the event to become a round of the Australian Rally Championship and in 2017 the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport asked the club to take on a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship with international status. The rest is history.
In 2018 we will continue the tradition of presenting a popular and safe event with the support of both the ACT Government and the local forestry. The event is run on a 100% volunteer basis with over 400 volunteers working on the event this year. With international rallying having a long history in Canberra with The Don Capsco and Castrol rallies in the 70s and the Rally of Canberra in the 80’s and 90’s, it is this pedigree that gives Canberra the experienced volunteers needed to stage an international motorsport event.
